Where Has All The Money for Hedge Funds Gone?

My friends at eVestment Alliance have sent me this brief synopsis which I thought some of you would find of interest.

EAFE Small Cap Value was the most searched universe for September 2012. EAFE Small Cap Value recorded eleven consecutive quarters of net institutional inflows beginning in 3Q 2009. Public Funds and Corporate Pensions made up the vast majority of the institutional inflows to EAFE Small Cap Value. Corporate Pensions increased allocations by $622M to EAFE Small Cap Value over eight consecutive quarters of expansion during 2010 and 2011. Over the same time period, Public Funds bought $920M in EAFE Small Cap Value with seven out of the eight quarters registering inflows.

Global Multi-Sector Fixed Income remains as the lone debt universe in the most searched universes list. Global Multi-Sector Fixed Income has positive institutional flows for eight consecutive and twelve of the prior thirteen quarters. Corporate Pensions, Public Funds…
